THE ANNUAL
MINGEI POTTERY INVITATIONAL

To Our Good Friends,

The end of the year is fast approaching and the time for planning our Annual Mingei Pottery Show is passing quickly. Laurie and I have done a lot of soul searching and have conferred with many friends over the past few months and sadly we have come to the conclusion that we can no longer sustain the great investment in time, energy and financial resources to mount the show this year.
Although we are saddened by the circumstances in our business that no longer allow us to mount this annual exhibit, we are also enormously proud of what we have achieved over the past decade. We will always look back fondly at the many years the Mingei invitational ran at Glenn Richards. The show will remain one of our happiest memories. And for that we owe you all a great debt of thanks!!

To those of you have been by Glenn Richards lately you know that we have shrunk to a quarter of our former size. We only occupy one half of the sales floor and no longer occupy the basement. While that has been upsetting to many of our friends and clients, we see this as a very positive move in our lives and therefore a reason to celebrate. The shop is still dynamic and interesting but is now much more manageable and will allow for us to travel and volunteer our time overseas. We feel it is the time in our lives to start "giving back" and we are fortunate that we will be able to do that.

There may be a time in the future that we will again devote our time and resources to promoting the "Mingei" arts in the U.S., when that happens you all will be the first to know. In the meantime we will hold on to the name "The Annual Mingei Pottery Invitational" and will maintain our web site. We encourage all of you to use this site to purchase directly from our talented stable of potters.
We have been in close touch with Peter Olsen at Seward Park Studios and encourage you to join him in his efforts to promote clay art as well. We will do all we can to support his efforts and that of the Seward Park studios.

There have been many wonderful people from both Honeychurch and Glenn Richards that have been involved in the Mingei Show over the years. Laurie and I feel comfortable in speaking for all of them when we say.... Thank you!

Fondly,
John & Laurie Fairman
